The Pitons are the island’s signature view: two volcanic plugs, Gros Piton (about 771 m) and Petit Piton (about 743 m), joined by the Piton Mitan ridge. The surrounding Pitons Management Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the peaks, the geothermal field at Sulphur Springs and the coral reefs offshore.
Gros Piton can be climbed with a certified guide from Fond Gens Libre — allow 3 to 5 hours return and start early. Petit Piton is steeper and only for experienced climbers. If you would rather admire than climb, the viewpoints at Tet Paul, Jalousie beach, the Soufrière waterfront and the water taxis from the bay all give postcard angles.
