Sulphur Springs — the drive-in volcano

Billed as the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs sits inside the Qualibou caldera a few minutes from Soufrière town. A short guided walk takes you along the viewing platforms above hissing fumaroles and grey, boiling pools; the smell of sulphur is part of the experience.

The highlight for most visitors is the mud bath: warm volcanic water and mineral-rich mud that you paint on, let dry and rinse off in the stream. Bring a dark swimsuit and a towel. It is an easy stop to combine with Diamond Falls, Toraille Waterfall or a Piton viewpoint.
