Morne Fortune changed hands between the French and British many times, and the ridge is still dotted with military buildings, several now used by Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. Look for the Inniskilling Monument, which marks the 1796 British assault, the old cemetery and the restored Apostles’ Battery.
The drive up is short from downtown Castries and the lookout gives a wide view over the cruise port, Vigie and the north coast — a popular first stop on island tours and a lovely spot at sunset.
